Manchester Synagogue Attack: One Victim Was Likely Shot by Officers
During a tragic turn of events, one of the individuals lost at the Manchester synagogue attack appears to have been fatally wounded by law enforcement personnel.
Official Statement Confirms Firearm Injury
The senior officer from the local force announced that a forensic expert has initially concluded the man died of a bullet injury.
“We sought guidance overnight from the Home Office pathologist ahead of full postmortem examinations scheduled for this afternoon. The Home Office pathologist indicated that preliminary findings show one of the deceased victims likely sustained a wound matching a gunshot injury.”
Suspect Details
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, was not carrying a firearm, and all discharged rounds were by the police officers on site.
It is believed the deceased was among those positioned at the entrance trying to stop the attacker from gaining entry.
Outcome of Intervention
“It follows therefore pending additional analysis, the wound may sadly have been sustained as a unintended and heartbreaking result of the urgently required action employed by my officers to halt this brutal assault.”
Victims Identified
Both individuals killed in the attack at Heaton Park synagogue located in Manchester earlier this week had been named as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.
The men lost their lives when a vehicle was employed to crash through the property of the local Jewish place of worship, before the attacker targeted attendees in a six-minute rampage that ended only when police with firearms fired upon him, killing him at the door of the temple.
Further Harm
Three others sustained major injuries in the violent act on the Day of Atonement, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish calendar.
Watson said, “We have also been advised that one of the three victims now hospitalized has also suffered a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. Officials think the two individuals were close together behind the synagogue door, as worshippers acted bravely to prevent the attacker from getting inside.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are directed toward all of the families, and broader public, impacted by these events across Greater Manchester and beyond. Trained personnel are providing support and assistance for everyone involved, including the courageous emergency teams.”
Suspect Background
Authorities identified the attacker as Shamie, thirty-five, a UK national of Syrian origin.
Greater Manchester police reported that three additional individuals – two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s – had been detained “for alleged involvement in planning of acts of terrorism”.
